Ancient London

I did a walk over the weekend about Ancient London, not surprisingly it was in the actual City- all about the scandals from about 1100 to 1500.

Sign telling the story of King Edgar giving the land just outside of the Tower of London to 13 knights.
A statue representing the 13 knights
The church of St Helen Undercroft-the Gherkin is in the bankground

St Andrew's Undercroft
The church of St. Catherine Cree

The church of St Botolph Bishopsgate
Obviously not an ancient building- it's the Lloyd's of London building
These flowers mark the spot in Mitre Square where Jack the Ripper killed one of his victims

Westminster at War

On Sunday, I did at guided tour about Westminster during World War II. It was interesting, you can still see the bomb damage in a lot of areas. London is still freezing, the snow is gone so now it's just cold! My fingers were numb at the end.

Trafalgar Square- looking toward Nelson's Column
St Martin- in the Fields- the crypt was used as a bomb shelter
Piccadilly Circus (I rarely come here- too many dumb tourists!!)
Nancy Astor's town house

The only memorial to a Nazi in London- it's the grave of the German ambassador's dog- who was killed just before the war broke out (sorry for the bad photo- my fingers were numb at that point)
